The Preliminary Election on September 1 is a referendum on our city’s potential and the course we can all take together. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate our many accomplishments over these past three years, and look to Revere's bright future.
Last year, we were recognized as a national leader in education with Revere High School being named Best Urban High School in America. This year, we were recognized as the only district in the urban school district that had all level 1 and 2 schools.
We have made our community stronger through the Revere Tornado Relief Fund, the Neighborhood Advisory Committee, Revere Shines city-wide cleanup, Office of New Revere Residents, and the Columbus Day Parade and Breakfast.
We are building a better Revere, securing $120 million in State and private investments for Revere Beach and the revitalization of Broadway. We have also built a brand new elementary school and a new state of the art football stadium complete with regulation track, two new tennis courts, and two new basketball courts. We have refurbished four children's playgrounds. Just this week we broke ground on three new little league fields behind St. Mary's.
Our City’s finances are stronger and more transparent than ever. In recognition of that, we were awarded the “Distinguished Budget Presentation” award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the first time in our city’s history. We've doubled the amount of money in our rainy day fund and attained the highest bond rating in the city’s history.
We have democratized and modernized city services through See Click Fix, hosting Tele-Town Halls, our Safe Housing Task Force, and Plan Revere. We recently announced the creation of the Road Repair Task Force, Participatory Budgeting and became one of the first communities in the state to sign a Community Compact with the Baker Administration. We will be fully implementing a newly created Capital Improvement Plan, Pavement Mapping and Management System, and a first in class online bill payment and permitting system.
All of the above mentioned programs and policies were enacted over the last three and a half years under my administration with the help, encouragement, energy, and guidance of hundreds of Revere residents.
I ask for your vote on September 1st, and for you to join me in shaping our shared future, so we can continue to move Revere forward.
Mayor of Revere
