Mayor Rizzo's 2015 Pothole Report

City Government’s continued use of data shows over 1,470 potholes filled since January 2015

Revere - Potholes are not only a roadway distraction; in many cases, if left unattended, they can cause serious damage to vehicles and in some cases, cause personal injury. In an effort to update residents on efforts being made by the Department of Public Works, Mayor Dan Rizzo is publishing his second annual Pothole Report which will come out in July of each year. The report will summarize the number of potholes filled by the Department of Public Works in the first half of each year.

The Department of Public Works has been using SeeClickFix, a mobile constituent servicesapplication, along with a new work order management system, which have enabled  our Public Works Department  to strategically respond to potholes across the city. From January 1, 2015 through July 15, 2015 the Department of Public Works has filled 1,478 potholes. Below are data visualizations which summarize the pothole situation in the City of Revere. Data is preliminary and it does not cover all work completed by the department.

“We all know that our DPW is in need of additional resources but we cannot let that stop us from meeting the demands of a growing urban community. I am proud of the efforts made by the DPW over the past 7 months to fill 1,478 potholes across the city.

Obviously this past winter took a toll not only on our roads, but on other infrastructure including manhole covers, fire hydrants, and catch basins. Thanks to our implementation of SeeClickFix, and our work order management system, we are now able to respond to potholes in a much more effective way than in years past,” stated Mayor Rizzo.

The Department of Public Works will continue to work as fast as possible to address potholes that have not been filled, as well as work to repair these other damaged pieces of public property as well. Publishing this Pothole Report is a way for us to help residents understand efforts already underway to address potholes. Residents are encouraged to use SeeClickFix to report potholes along with other quality of life issues.
