Delivery of City Services

Every day people tell me that they are fed up with paying high taxes, tolls, fees, fines, as well as ever-increasing water and sewer bills. It is difficult to respond to or repudiate these comments and complaints because I too am a tax paying citizen and rate payer. I understand their plight and I empathize with the situation we’re in.

As an elected official, and as your Mayor, I will do my very best to make sure that in spite of not being able to tell you that I’ll lower your taxes, or eliminate your water and sewer bills, I will do my best to ensure that you receive every dollars worth of services that you pay for.

While I don’t consider myself a micro manager, I do believe that blame starts at the top and rolls downhill. If I am not concise with our city workers as to what is expected of them, then I am at fault. However, I do expect to be in the neighborhoods, in the various departments, and with a clear message as to what is expected of them as city employees. Not to sound cliché but, the taxpayers are who we are employed by and it is to the taxpayers whom we report to. As your Mayor, I will take on that role very seriously. You can count on that.
