Community Reinvestment

Over the years, we have embarked on an aggressive rebuilding effort on our infrastructure. I’ve often said it is not glamorous or something we can all sit back and admire; it is more of a quality of life issue than any other. We’ve alleviated flooding in so many areas around the city, prevented the back flow of sewer and drains to thousands of homes, and repaired or replaced when needed, aging and decaying water lines and storm drains. This is an obligation that the city ignored for far too long. No one should have to live in fear of being flooded or inundated with sewage. It will be my intent to continue on with this investment until every resident in this city can breathe a little easier knowing that we’ve done our best in protecting their homes and their families from these catastrophes.

We will also stay focused on making sure that our plans for the McKinley School stays on our plan for development as does our hopes to expand our library to bring it into a tool for the 21st Century that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. I also believe that a commitment to our parks and playgrounds is a must to give our residents, particularly our children a decent place to play and grow.
