I am awfully proud to have been part of an administration and City Council that finally provided the necessary dollars to fund our badly needed state of the art public safety facility. Our Police and Fire Departments deserve and need adequate tools to do their jobs effectively.
As Mayor, I will continue to do my best to make sure they have those tools and continue to make public safety a top priority during my tenure. I will also call on the members of our community to get to know their neighbors once again. In doing so, it is my hopes that we can establish, and in some cases, re-establish crime watch groups throughout the city. I believe that we all benefit more from a strong working relationship between our public safety professionals and members of our community working together.
It has been discouraging to watch the numbers of police and fire diminish over time due to funding, and that is a problem that is very real. I will work with our state and federal legislators to do all that we can to provide ample numbers of police and fire personnel that ensures the safety and well being of our residents.
