United States Air Force Honor Guard to be featured in Revere’s Columbus Day Parade
Mayor Rizzo confirms United States Air Force Honor Guard will join the City in its biannual parade
The United States Air Force Honor Guard will be taking part in the Revere Columbus Day Parade, which will be held Monday October 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Late last week, Mayor Dan Rizzo received confirmation that the Honor Guard—the premier drill and ceremonial unit of the United States Air Force—will join the City as it marches through its community.
The Honor Guard serves as the face of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force to the American and global public. It supports more than 2,000 high profile ceremonies and events every year, including presidential and congressional events, major sporting events, and renowned parades, such as the New York City Veterans Day Parade and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“Revere is honored to have such a distinguished organization such as the United States Air Force Honor Guard participate in our Columbus Day” Mayor Rizzo said. “I am looking forward to having this prestigious unit lead off our City Parade.”
The route of the parade will run from the lower end of Broadway beginning at Beach/Fenno Street, all the way up to Revere Street, where it will turn right and end at St. Anthony’s Church. Mayor Rizzo would like to remind our residents that the Columbus Day Committee has scheduled a fundraising breakfast on Sunday October 11, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Revere High School Cafeteria. Tickets for the breakfast are $25.
“I'm proud to have brought back the parade; it has always been a wonderful community event for people of all ages and two years ago was no different,” Mayor Rizzo said. “I encourage all to attend the parade and if possible, participate in this breakfast celebration.”
